Corrosion resistant valve cores address a failure mode that is distinct from rubber degradation: attack on the metal substrate. In standard valve core constructions, the metal - carbon steel, brass, or aluminum - is exposed at the sealing interface, at fastening features, and along any surface that the rubber layer does not fully cover. In corrosive media, this exposure allows electrochemical corrosion to progress from the metal surface inward, undermining the rubber-metal bond from below and causing delamination and dimensional loss without any degradation of the rubber compound itself.

 

Our corrosion resistant valve cores address this through two coordinated strategies: corrosion-resistant metal substrate selection, and compound selection for the chemical environment. The result is a component where neither the metal nor the rubber is the failure point.
